Day 8 - Baker

Today we began as we usually do with a lovely breakfast of bacon, eggs, biscuits, and gravy. It was a chilly morning at around 40 degrees when we headed out to the dig site. We stopped at the museum to meet up with Holly and Chris and then drove out to the site. Once we arrived at the dig site, we split into our usual groups with most people going to the large quarry and a few others returning to the ridge quarry. I worked at the ridge quarry with Ms. Trimble, Federico, Claire, and Jaycie. The day started slow, however things got exciting when Jaycie found a massive Dimetrodon shoulder blade. Claire and I found pieces of a dimetrodon jaw bone and Federico and Ms. Trimble found lots of vertebrae. We then broke for lunch at 12.

After lunch we got back to work on our quarry and found some other really cool bones and the time flew by. At around 2:30, we met as a group and discussed what had been found at the three quarries we were using. After that we headed back to the Whiteside Museum and bloggers from the previous days had a chance to catch up on their work. A small group of us went to the local supermarket for drinks and snacks and then ate them at the park across the road. We then finished up our day at Ranger Creek Ranch with dinner and hangout time.
