Day 1 - Claire

We started off our paleontology M-Term in the classroom. We discussed general housekeeping rules, the schedule, and the weather forecast. After they got a quick lesson on how to read the geologic map of Texas. We then chose when we’d blog and what topics we’d present on. We then had open work to work on our presentations. At some point in the morning we received our paleontology sweatshirts, this year we got sandstone-colored crew necks with red writing designed by Vee. We broke for lunch, it was Vee’s birthday today, and we celebrated her with dinosaur cake. Then Aiden kicked off the presentations. He presented on the time scale of geology. He had us create a clock with all the eras and how far apart they'd be on the hour markers. Next, Katie presented the geology and geography of our road trip. After Ira and Sophia presented the history of the Permian era in Texas. Then Evan closed us off with a presentation on sedimentary rocks and stratigraphy. Then we packed up to leave.
